The following individuals have been appointed to the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness by Governor Charlie Crist. Council member were appointed to a term beginning May 4, 2007 and ending at the pleasure of the Governor.

  • Derrick Brooks, of Tampa, professional football player, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mr. Brooks will serve as council chair.
  • Joshua Butler, of Tallahassee, Executive Chef, The Florida Governor's Mansion
  • Jennifer Capriati, of Wesley Chapel, Olympic gold medalist and professional tennis player.
  • Charles “Monty” Castevens, of Clermont, president and chief executive officer, Special Olympics Florida Inc.
  • Carlos Castresana, of Fort Lauderdale, partner with Edify LLC.
  • Karen Dowd, of Parkland, executive director, Florida Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance and Sport (FAHPERDS).
  • Thomas Epsky, of Port St. Lucie, adjunct faculty member, Indian River Community College.
  • Javier Garcia-Bengochea, of Jacksonville, neurosurgeon, Lyerly Neurosurgery.
  • Nancy Hogshead-Makar, of Jacksonville, Olympic gold medalist and associate professor of law, Florida Coastal School of Law.
  • Robert Keiser, of Parkland, high school student.
  • Kezarrick “Kez” McCorvey, of St. Augustine, owner and manager, Titus Sports Academy.
  • Shannon Miller, of Jacksonville, Olympic gold medalist and founder of the Shannon Miller Foundation. Ms. Miller will serve as council co chair.
  • William “Bill” Montford, of Tallahassee, chief executive officer, Florida Association of District School Superintendents.
  • Don Rapp, of Tallahassee, balance class instructor, retired Florida State University professor and author.
  • Dorothy “Dot” Richardson, of Clermont, Olympic gold medalist, medical director and orthopedic surgeon, National Training Center at Southlake Hospital.
  • Mary Rumberger, of Winter Park, director of community relations for Magruder Eye Institute and board chairperson of Metro YMCA.
  • Julie Ryczek, of Treasure Island, elementary school teacher, Pinellas County Schools.
  • Judith “Judy” Schaecter, of Miami Beach, physician and associate professor, University of Miami.
  • Sheila Sheridan, of Naples, director, Department of Nutrition Services, Collier County Public Schools.
